Tadeusz Sumiński (1924-2009)
„Factory and Form”

He came from a landed gentry family with patriotic traditions. He fought in the Warsaw Uprising (alias „Leszczyc”) in „Zośka” battalion (honored with the Cross of Valour). He was an originator and editor of reprinted Memoirs of soldiers from Zośka battalion.
An economist. Chile studying, He was arrested and sent to prison for alleged activities against the regime. In 1950s he could not find the job so he took up photography. At the beginning of his photographic career Sumiński worked as a laboratory assistant in the Central Photographic Agency, a photographer in the Institute of Industrial Design, and at the beginning of 1960s he was a reporter for the monthly „Polska” (African-Asian section).
An Honoraty member of the Association of Polish Art. Photographers. He presented his works at various individual and group show in Poland and abroad. He is famous for his landscape photographs (sky photographs) revealing the classic formula referring to the Buhak’s aesthetics. He was consiously breaking this convention – the example of those actions was the exhibition „Anatomia Krajobrazu” [“Landscape Anatomy”] in Mała Galeria ZPAF – CSW in 1985.
